Well, it seems the fairway in the Middle East has developed a few more "hazards" than usual for the golf world. After a bit of a global "time out" that saw tournaments take a detour around the region, the globe-trotting pros are back, only to find things are still a little less than "fairway and greens" for some events.

The PIF Saudi International, a favorite off-season stop for many a LIV golfer looking to keep their swing sharp, has hit a bit of a snag. Postponed from its November dates, the event is currently without a new home, citing “organizational and logistical challenges.” Apparently, even the best planners can have a "bogey" on the schedule sometimes.

This little scheduling hiccup means players might need to rethink their travel plans. With the DP World Tour playoffs set to tee off in the UAE shortly after the Saudi International's original dates, concerns have understandably surfaced. While the tour brass insists things are a "go" for Abu Dhabi and Dubai, I bet players are keeping a close eye on the travel advisories, hoping for clear skies and smooth landings.

It’s a bit of a "what if" scenario for the season, especially considering the ripple effects from earlier geopolitical events. Remember when funding for LIV Golf took a hit? That decision seems to have had its own butterfly effect, leading to current contractual discussions for players like Jon Rahm. It appears even the biggest eagles can sometimes be followed by a tricky approach shot.

Still, the show must go on. We’re firmly aiming to host those final playoff events in the UAE. While the circumstances are certainly less than ideal, the resilience of professional golf often shines through. We’ll have to wait and see if these events can navigate the turbulence, or if they’ll need a "mulligan" on the calendar.
